Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu promised on Tuesday "I agreed with Putin that working teams of the IDF and the Russian army will soon meet to continue security coordination," in the wake of the downing of a Russian plane by Syria and arming of Syria with the S-300 anti-aircraft defense system.

Speaking before he took off for the United Nations General Assembly in New York and meetings with world leaders, he said, "In the past three years, Israel has been very successful in preventing the Iranian military from establishing itself in Syria."
