By a margin of 204-142, with some members of parliament absent, Swedish Prime Minister, Stefan Löfven lost a confidence vote on Tuesday after the far-right Sweden Democrats backed the center-right opposition Alliance’s bid to oust the Social Democrats.
The vote was required after elections earlier this month delivered a hung parliament. Löfven is likely to continue at the helm of a caretaker government while the newly-elected speaker of the Riksdag, Andreas Norlén from the Moderates, leads the effort to get another party to try to form a new government.
