The Russian Defense Ministry has issued an unusual announcement that Syrian anti-aircraft systems which operated Monday evening in the wake of an Israeli attack in Syria were the ones that intercepted a Russian transport plane.
Fifteen Russian military personnel were killed in the plane crash. A spokesman for the ministry condemned Israel's "irresponsible actions" and said Moscow reserved its right to take appropriate measures after Israel's "hostile action."
