Executive Director Amos Yadlin of Tel Aviv University's Institute for National Security Studies said on Tuesday, "In the post-truth era, it is important to make it clear as soon as possible that the Syrians are responsible" for the downing of a Russian plane in Syria.

Writing on Twitter, the former head of Israeli military intelligence said there are three scenarios:
Optimistic: The Russians understand that the Iranians continue to transfer weapons and restrain them. Syria is instructed to stop firing during Israeli attacks.
Neutral: The Russians define the event as a technical accident or pilot error.
Problematic: the Russians are changing the rules of the "conflict" and restricting Israeli activity.
