Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and his advisors are investing intensive diplomatic efforts to advance the time of his speech at the United Nations General Assembly next week, according to Channel 10 Television.
Senior Israeli officials and Western diplomats noted that Netanyahu asked Cyprus' President Nicos Anastasiades a few days ago to exchange the "slot" for the speech. In the order of speakers set by the UN, Anastasiades is the sixth speaker and is expected to speak between 18:00 and 19:00, Israel time. Netanyahu, on the other hand, was placed in the 18th place, and is expected to deliver a speech at 21:30, after Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, the 15th speaker.
