Mk Oded Forer (Yisrael Beyteynu) demanded a meeting of the interior committee in which Minister of Interior Aryeh Deri (Shas) was invited to attend to discuss the decision to break the status quo in Eilat.
"Maintaining the status quo and the free fabric of life in the State of Israel are important cornerstones of the state and in the coalition agreements," he said
"The decision of the Minister of the Interior to harm the city of Eilat, its residents, and tourists who arrive there is scandalous while using its authority to impose its worldview on a public that has decided democratically to act in a manner it pleases. The results of enforcement against businesses working on Saturday and the closing of shops will result in an outflow of tourists, and cumulative economic damage that it will be difficult to repair."
