Police Commissioner Roni Alsheikh, who was told by Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan that his term would not be extended, thanked the minister for his selection as police commissioner about three years ago, and for his right to command and lead 31,000 police officers and 33,000 volunteers responsible for the personal security of citizens of the State of Israel.

Alsheikh said, "I wish success to whoever will be selected [to succeed me] and will be at his service to assist as much as necessary."
