Interior Minister Aryeh Deri vowed that "Shabbat will not become a regular day of work" during an interview with Ynet on Wednesday.

"I'm not willing that even on a social level, Shabbat will become a day of work in the State of Israel, because those who pay the price will be the weakest again," said Deri. Regarding the fact that the 2018 Eurovision will take place on Shabbat, Deri said that "on Shabbat, it hurts me as a Jew, but I know where I live".
