AP reported that former US Secretary of State John Kerry (D) wrote in his book that Syria and Israel held negotiations between 2010 and 2011 following a surprising letter from Assad to Netanyahu in which he offered to "make a deal with Israel in return for the Golan Heights."
The negotiations were derailed when Assad refused to make a confidence-building gesture by stopping some shipments to the Lebanese terror organization, Hizbullah.
