A crowd of attackers beat and robbed a Jew near the Champs-Elysees on Monday morning. According to the victim, he was beaten because he wore a chain with a Star of David.
The victim, whose name has not been disclosed, told the police that the attack took place around 3:00. He crossed the Alexander III Bridge over the Seine in the center of Paris, when a man on a scooter approached him from behind and tore the chain off his neck.
Until that moment, it was a "routine" robbery, the man said. But when the robber saw that it was a Star of David, he called the man "a dirty Jew."
Then another scooter arrived, with another driver and passenger on it. The two got out of the scooter and began beating the victim.
The attackers, who had not yet been identified, stole a cell phone and wallet from the man.
