Rabbi Menachem Burstein today (Tuesday) informed the secretary of the Elections Committee of the Chief Rabbinate Council that he has withdrawn his candidacy for membership in the Council.
In a letter sent today to the committee's secretary, Rabbi Hezekiah Samin, Rabbi Burstein wrote: "Out of a desire not to offend the rabbis who served in the past as members of the Chief Rabbinate Council, I hereby announce that I am canceling my candidacy for the Chief Rabbinate Council."
