The Israel Police has completed preparations for Jewish New Year celebrations in Jerusalem, starting with next Sunday's eve of the holiday, when the entrance to the Old City via the Jaffa Gate will be closed to private vehicles, except those of local residents.
Local officers will be joined by national reinforcements, Border Guards and volunteers who will deploy throughout the city, in crowded places, shopping centers and markets, around the Old City and its alleyways and in the area of synagogues to maintain order and security, to secure worshipers, to organize and direct traffic.
