Police have arrested 11 students of the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak on suspicion of violence against their fellows, following disorders on Sunday, in which furniture and crowd-control measures were thrown.
The violence arose against the backdrop of the struggle for control over the yeshiva's administration, which is a direct result of the split among the Lithuanian haredi-religious public. Sunday's incident was sparked by a dispute over placement of newly-arrived students. The police called for calm but expressed zero tolerance for offenders.
