The Ministry of Transportation and the Jerusalem Light Rail Administration have announced that the availability of light rail and public transportation will be increased during the ten days of repentance between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, due to the hundreds of thousands of visitors and worshipers who are currently arriving in Jerusalem to visit the Western Wall of the Temple for the recitation of Selichot penitential prayers.

Deputy Jerusalem Mayor Dov Kalmanovitch, who requested the move, said that "the extension of the hours of public transportation on the night before Yom Kippur eve is something that will make it easier not only for the residents of the capital but also for those coming from outside the city to the Western Wall on the last night of Selichot."
