The Kremlin announced on Monday that President Vladimir Putin will make a working visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran on September 7th to attend the third trilateral meeting of the heads of state – guarantors of the Astana process for facilitating the Syrian peace settlement.

The announcement said that the talks with President Hassan Rouhani of Iran and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey "will concern further joint efforts to ensure long-term stabilization of the situation in the Syrian Arab Republic. In particular, the leaders will discuss a package of additional measures aimed at totally eradicating the hotbed of international terrorism, as well as facilitating political settlement and resolving humanitarian issues, including the creation of conditions for the repatriation of refugees and internally displaced persons." Putin will also hold separate meetings with the two leaders.
