Meretz Party Chairwoman Tamar Zandberg asked President Reuven Rivlin on Sunday not to meet Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, who arrives in Israel this evening.

Zandberg explained, "In recent years, Dorta's security forces, involved in mass murder in the framework of the 'war on drugs', have been using Israeli Tavor rifles. According to reports that Duterte's visit is expected to include a visit to weapons exhibitions. In light of his problematic acts, to put it lightly, against civilians and innocents, it will put Israel in a situation in which it is a partner to the crimes against humanity carried out by Duterte in his country." She concluded, "We must prevent a situation in which the stateliness of the president's house is being used and the honor the president gives to world leaders in order to promote arms deals and voting at the UN."
