US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman said on Tuesday that the chances of a stable settlement in the Gaza Strip are "very low".

According to Walla, Friedman told American Jews on Wednesday that the situation in Gaza "is a disease without a cure, at this juncture Israel can only manage it, and not provide a long-term solution because circumstances do not allow it."

"Until there is an internal Palestinian reconciliation that will bring the Palestinian Authority back into the Gaza Strip - the most you can aspire to is a cease-fire," said Fredman. "From Israel's point of view there is no reason to go to war in Gaza, because the only way to change the result is ground entry, and this creates a huge risk to human life, and that makes no sense."
