The Ministry of Health has called on the public to continue to be vaccinated against measles, following an inrease from nine cases in 2016 to 262 so far this year.
The ministry stressed that the chances of preventing the disease are about 97% after receiving 2 doses of vaccination, noting that a person who is not vaccinated and is exposed to measles has a 90% higher risk of contracting the disease. A ministry statement said, "We reiterate the need to maintain routine immunizations especially before the start of the school year."
