Sports and Culture Minister Miri Regev has pledged to do all she can to keep Argentinian footballer Pedro Galván in the country, after the Immigration Police told him and his wife on Monday that they have to leave after five years in Israel because neither Hapoel Tel Aviv nor Bnei Yehuda arranged work permits for him.
On loan to Hapoel Marmorek, Galván has scored the most goals in Israel of any foreign player. Following weeks of efforts to resolve the issue, Regev said, "I am sure and believe that all the actions we have taken will bear fruit and we will succeed in securing Galván's stay in Israel and thus give him the due respect he deserves as a foreign player who has given his all to Israeli football. I will not be quiet and will continue to press the relevant echelons until this task is completed. Galban's place is in Israel and that's how it should be decided."
