Shas MK Yoel Ben Tzur defended Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz's decision to stop construction on Tel Aviv's Yehudit Bridge that was scheduled to be done on Shabbat.
"A Jewish state does not continue to exist from statements but from actions," he said. "I congratulate Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz for taking responsibility and preventing the construction of a Yehudit Bridge on Saturday. This is a smart and worthy decision that protects the Jewish character and preserves the status of the Sabbath as an equal day for all segments of the population."
