In the run-up to the upcoming municipal elections, Deputy Defense Minister Eli Ben-Dahan has instructed legal officials at the Defense Ministry to apply existing legislation in the rest of Israel in the area of municipal elections to Judea and Samaria.
According to the deputy minister, "The current situation in which the legislation regarding municipal elections does not apply in Judea and Samaria harms, first and foremost, the residents participating in the democratic process, as well as the candidates themselves. The changes we are going to make will allow transparency in the election process, and proper management of votes, appeals and conduct on election day, before it and after it."
