The police have rejected the request of Elor Azariya, who was released from prison for a weapons license, on the grounds that because of his conviction in the killing of a neutralized terrorist in Hebron, he is dangerous to the public.
Yediot Ahronot reported that in the examination by police intelligence, no security threat was posed to Azariya. A few months ago, Member of Knesset Nava Boker (Likud) asked that the state allow Azariya to carry arms because he was under threat and in danger. Attorney Binyamin Malka, who once represented Elazar Azaria, said in response to the police decision: "The police must examine whether there is a concrete threat or not. This is the only parameter that must be taken into consideration by the decision-makers regarding the issue of a weapons license."
