The National Planning and Building Committee has approved a plan by the Central Arava Regional Council for the establishment of a new community, the eighth in the ancient city of Ovot

The new community will include 500 families and will be spread over an area of ​​some 1,100 dunams (275 acres). According to the regional council's plans, development work will begin in the communities of Idan and Tzukim in the coming weeks, as part of its development and expansion project, with the aim of expanding the Central Arava population from 4,000 residents to 15,000 residents within a decade.
