Chairman Moti Amsalem of the Hapoel Eilat basketball club died, Monday evening at the age of 60, after a prolonged battle with a serious disease that forced him to step down a month and a half ago after six years with the team.
Amsalem was a veteran of Israeli basketball, starting when he headed the Givat Shmuel team from 1989 until 2012 and led them to the semifinals and finals of the national cup. He led Eilat to the cup final and the league final in 2014, established the administration of the Premier League and was an active member of the Israel Basketball Association.
