The Department for the Investigation of Police has arrested two policemen from Tel Aviv on suspicion of robbery and extortion by threats. In addition, three additional civilians were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the robbery.

According to suspicions, last June the officers allegedly searched apartments and businesses where foreign workers were found in southern Tel Aviv. During the searches, they allegedly pocketed thousands of shekels which belonged to the foreign workers and threatened to harm them if they did not pay. The suspects face a remand hearing today at the Tel Aviv Magistrates Court.
