In light of large demand, the Ministry of Science and Technology recently expanded its subsidized summer camps program to 13 additional local authorities throughout the country, joining the 185 local authorities in which the camps are already operating successfully.
The goal of the program is to increase the interest in science and technology and exposure to them at an early age, through experiential means such as robotics, electronics and technology, without prior knowledge. Some 30,000 students are expected to attend the summer camps with a total budget of 9 million shekels. The camps run five days at a cost of NIS 80 per child for activity after subsidy. Each group has up to 25 students. The exact dates for operating the camp are determined by the local authority and by the supplier on behalf of the ministry.
