The Meretz Party petitioned the Supreme Court against the Nationality Law on Tuesday, claiming it was unconstitutional.
Meretz's petition focuses on two central sections of the national law which, it argues, contradict the principle of equality - the section on Jewish settlement, which enshrines discrimination in favor of the development of settlements on the basis of religion and race, as well as the section that abolishes the status of Arabic as an official language in Israel.
