On Thursday morning, Yediot Ahronot reported that in his testimony to police investigating alleged improprieties in Israel's purchase of three submarines from Germany, state's witness Miki Ganor said, "We planned to buy another three submarines, which cost about $1.8 billion, at a price of $2.2 billion."

Ganor, the Israel representative of German shipbuilder ThyssenKrupp - which got the contract - explained to the investigators that he planned to "engineer" the price and offer ThyssenKrupp the inflated deal and share the excess profits with them.
