Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit has informed the Supreme Court that it is his position that adoptive parents of the same sex should be registered on the birth certificate, as is the case with father and mother efforts.
Mandelblit's position was reflected in the state's response to a petition by the LGBT community regarding the registration of adoptive parents of the same sex on the birth certificate. It differs from the Ministry of Interior's practice of only putting one parent's name on the birth certificate in such cases.
