Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev, who is in charge of the Israel Antiquities Authority, decided on Monday to convene an urgent hearing, following the falling of a stone at the Western Wall. Joining Regev and authority representatives will be representatives of the Jerusalem Municipality, the Western Wall Heritage Foundation and the Chief Rabbis.
During the discussion, the minister will seek to examine the reasons for the stone's fall and will discuss the areas of responsibility of the various parties. She has instructed the Antiquities Authority's director-general to take the stone for safe keeping until a decision is made as to what to do with it in terms of Jewish law, civil law or other considerations.
