Former Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon slammed the surrogacy law, which many say denies LGBT Israelis the right to conceive a child. "A strong society does not allow discrimination and alienation, a strong society contains and respects its daughters and sons and their way of life and their preferences," he said.

"The ongoing damage to the LGBT community is the result of a lack of leadership. Is the result of prejudice and political extortion. Leadership must lead and do what is right and not run according to political pressures and extortion. I am proud to support the basic right of every person to be a parent in the State of Israel," Ya'alon tweeted.
