Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu decided today, in coordination with Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman and Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot of the Israel Defense Forces that Colonel Avi Balut will be appointed his military secretary, succeeding Brigadier General Eliezer Toledano, who has served in the position for the past three years and will be appointed commander of the Gaza Division.

Upon his appointment, Colonel Balut will be promoted to brigadier general. The date of the swap will be finalized soon. The announcement comes about a month after Balut's military vehicle suffered a break-in and the loss of military documents.
