The Knesset's Labor, Welfare and Health Committee approved on Monday regulations submitted by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to the effect that some 1,500 Israeli local workers in Israeli missions abroad will be considered state employees and will be signed under a special contract for a fixed period.

It was also confirmed that 600 legal assistants (lawyers who assist judges and are employed by the courts) will be employed as state employees. Their terms of employment will be anchored in a collective agreement and the contract period will not be limited in time. The regulations followed negotiations between the state and worker representatives.
