The Knesset's Labor, Welfare and Health Committee has approved Defense Ministry regulations according to which the rights of bereaved siblings of soldiers who lost their lives in a campaign to receive help to finance education or vocational training directly instead of through their parents.
Member of Knesset Meirav Ben-Ari (Kulanu), who is promoting the initiative, said, "This is a very important event in which the brothers get recognition because they are 'brothers of' and not only because they are 'sons of.' Today we have approved many benefits regulations that will enable brothers and sisters to receive what they deserve from the state. The next step is to change the main legislation regarding orphans and widows."
