The housing cabinet has approved a proposal by Finance Minister Kahlon to double the number of workers who could work in Israel in the framework of foreign construction companies, to stand at 12,000 as part of the government's decision to increase the quota of foreign companies in the construction sector to accelerate and promote construction throughout the country.

Each of the additional companies will be granted permits to bring up to 1,000 foreign workers for the purpose of employing them in "wet jobs" only in residential construction projects on a first-come, first-served basis. The selected companies will be able to share their activities with local companies. The decision is part of the government's policy to increase the scope of residential construction in order to reduce the gap between the demand for housing and the existing supply of apartments in the economy.
