The Ministerial Committee on Legislation has approved a bill by Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz to require all electric-bicycle riders to wear a helmet while riding on them, regardless of age and on all roads.
Today, the law requires all cyclists to wear a helmet while riding on interurban roads. On urban roads, the wearing of a helmet applies only to cyclists up to the age of 18. The new bill is intended to amend the exemption from wearing a helmet, which was given in 2011 to adult cyclists on urban roads. It will go to the Knesset in the next few days.
