Tests conducted last month at the Technion Technical Institute in Haifa show that speed cameras installed throughout the country in recent years meet standards and the results that they offer are reliable, according to News 2.
The tests found that the deviation of the speed cameras was 1 kilometer an hour, a marginal deviation. A number of additional tests will be carried out before an unequivocal answer is given on returning them to service. The state prosecutor ordered the freezing of traffic tickets based on camera evidence a month ago. If they are determined to be reliable, the police will conduct an assessment of how to act with regard to the cameras in the past month, when the ticket writing was frozen.
