J-lem mayor says First Station complex will remain open on Shabbat

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat stressed on Sunday that the First Station shopping center will remain open despite attempts by haredi officials to shutter the popular esplanade. In a video he filmed at the compound, Barkat said that "the complex adds great value to Jerusalem and also provides a response on Saturdays to various sectors of the city - the secular sector, the non-Jewish sector and many tourists."
