Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman said on Thursday that he would check implementation of a directive he made when entering the ministry for drinks and sandwiches to be sold at six shekels per unit.

Litzman was responding to an urgent motion by Member of Knesset Yaakov Asher (United Torah Judaism) regarding the exorbitant prices of food sold in hospitals. In a speech to the plenum, MK Asher said, "This is the phenomenon of the captive client, who comes to the hospital and sometimes he has to stay there for days or even weeks and perhaps months with a family member or another. He is captive to the machines, he is imprisoned by the cafeterias and buffets, whose prices are really high."
