On Sunday, the Ministerial Committee on Legislation is scheduled to discuss an amendment to the Coastal Law, promoted by Member of Knesset Dov Khenin (Joint List) with the environmental organizations, which requires a reevaluation of building plans approved before the Coast Law was passed in 2004, which prohibits construction on the 100 meters of the coastal strip.

The amendment proposes a mechanism for regulating the issue in which the State will initiate examination of all the old plans. After the examination, the law grants the state powers to approve the plans, to demand changes and adjustments, and in certain cases to cancel them while mobilizing the developers' rights in the format and manner required.
