The Knesset has approved a Defense Ministry bill that stipulates that the ministry's Mine Clearance Authority will also be responsible for clearing the land of unexploded shells.
The removal of ordnace from these areas will enable their release for social and economic development, including the expansion of agricultural areas, beahes and communities, as well as the addition of new neighborhoods. In addition, the release of the areas will allow free access to water sources and the strengthening of the periphery, by using the land for advanced technologies.
