The Knesset plenum has approved the first reading of a bill to increase of the loading component in the insurance tariff to finance the cost of motorcycle insurance in the pool, to 8.5% instead of 6.5% of pure risk. The loading component is the amount that an insured who is not insured by the Pool must pay in order to subsidize the participation costs of an insurer within the Pool.
Member of Knesset Miki Zohar (Likud), the initiator of the law, said that "the price of insurance for two-wheeled vehicles has skyrocketed until the moment when we as legislators have to intervene in order to lower prices to a reasonable place because we do not want to reach a situation where a population that wants to drive a two-wheeled vehicle won't do so because of the insurance."
