Work on Jerusalem's second light-rail was inaugurated on Monday at the Pat intersection, one of Jerusalem's busiest.
The 20-kilometer Green Line will connect the two centers of interest: the two Hebrew University campuses, Talpiot's largest employment center, the city's largest neighborhoods and the largest leisure centers in Malha: sports stadiums, the zoo and the mall. Part of the four-year infrastructure phase of the project will be putting the bed for the tracks at the intersection on a different level from the street to minimize traffic disruption. The laying of the tracks is scheduled to take another year.
