A 19-year-old car driver was killed Monday morning when he collided with a truck on Highway 2, near the Havatzelet interchange to the south.
An initial investigation revealed that the driver noticed a police patrol car and began to flee and drive in the opposite direction of traffic before colliding with the truck.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people who were lightly injured were evacuated to the Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera. Highway 2 has been closed to traffic near Netanya following the accident.
