Bank of Israel Governor Karnit Flug said Thursday that Israel has "made some progress in reducing inequality and poverty in recent years, on the basis of encouraging employment in the economy." However, she said, "the rates of income inequality and poverty rates are still high by international standards."
Flug explained that "sustainable and inclusive growth is the main way to raise the standard of living of the general public and to reduce gaps and poverty."
