    Kiryat Gat resident charged with assaulting a rabbi in a synagogue

    An indictment was filed today by the Police Prosecution Division against a 58-year-old man from the central city of Kiryat Gat after he entered the synagogue a few days ago, tried to steal a cell phone belonging to a cleaning worker and attacked a rabbi who asked him to leave the synagogue.

    In addition, the suspect hurled a holy book at the worker's leg, causing her harm and damage to the book, while constantly threatening that he would kill her. The suspect was caught by those present and held until the arrival of police who arrested him for questioning. He was charged with serious offenses of assault, attempted theft, threats, insult to religion and more.
