Member of Knesset Yousef Jabareen (Joint List) petitioned the Supreme Court through the Adalah Arab rights group against the decision by the Knesset Ethics Committee to prevent him from going on a lecture tour in the United States funded by the Jewish Voices for Peace organization.
The Knesset House Committee had passed an amendment to the rules of ethics in which it was determined that a Knesset member is forbidden to travel abroad with the funding of a body that knowingly issued a call for a boycott of the State of Israel or undertook to participate in the boycott. The first implementation of said amendment is preventing Doctor Jabareen's planned trip.
