Secretary-General Avshalom (Abu) Vilan of the Israel Farmers' Union has cited the government for not taking the necessary steps to fight attacks against agriculture, following overnight vandalism at Kibbutz Mizra in the north which caused 200,000 shekels worth of damage and an attack before Passover which caused ten times that much damage.
Interviewed by Arutz Sheva, he gave the government credit for catching some livestock thieves but cited the relevant ministries for not setting up a task force to deal with the vandalism. He believes that the agricultural community counts no more than eight percent of the Israeli public, meaning that it does not exceed 10 Knesset seats, which is not worthwhile to deal with their problems.
