Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid said that Prime Minister Netanyahu reached "a new level of madness" after the premier criticized the abundant police use of state's witnesses in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

"With all his understanding of his distress, the prime minister can not tell his citizens that the police, the prosecution, the courts and the whole system of the rule of law are promoting 'false lies' and must not be trusted," said Lapid.

"The prime minister is supposed to strengthen the public's trust in the state institutions, not to harm them in a way that will take many years to rehabilitate ... The State of Israel is more important than any of us, including Netanyahu ... When the prime minister begins to hurt the state because of his personal problems."
