Prime Minister Netanyahu said on Wednesday that the decision of the police to turn three of his closest confidants into state witnesses proved that authorities did not find any incriminating evidence in their investigation into corruption allegations.
"I do not usually react to the 'sensational headlines,' but I read something in one of the newspapers that makes me change my ways," Netanyahu said in a video he posted on Facebook.
"I want to say a few words about the industry of state witnesses. They take people who claim they committed some offense. They are put under arrest, terrified, told: "Your life is over, your family's life is over. We will take from you almost everything, even your freedom. Do you want to get out of this? There is one way out - to blame Netanyahu. It does not matter that you will say false lies, the main thing is to mourn Netanyahu," added the prime minister.
"When there is something real, there is no need for a single state's withness, and when there is nothing, even a thousand state witnesses will not help."
